Appearances by Homewood High School's famous Patriot Marching Band in the Macy's Thanks- giving Day Parade and the Rose Parade elevated Homewood onto a national stage. Homewood has been named Alabama's "Most Walkable City" a number of times and for the past 10 consecutive years has been selected as one of the "Best 100 Communities for Music Education." Homewood High School is regularly found on lists of the nation's best schools, and Homewood made national news when several local businesses were mentioned in features in Southwest Airline's Spirit Magazine and USA Today. We have so much to be proud of in Homewood and so much to look forward to. The City of Homewood has invested in major infrastructure improvements with thousands of yards of sidewalks added throughout the city making it easier and safer than ever to walk Homewood. The new community center and pool saw a record number of visitors last summer, with over 75,000—more than double previous years—enjoying the new facility. Homewood continues to be blessed, and it is because of the people who work and live here. Whether you are a lifelong resident, a visitor to our community or a prospective resident, I encourage you to look through the pages of this 75th Anniversary magazine and celebrate all the things that make Homewood exactly what it is…a great place to live, work and play.
