H 50 H o m e w o o d M a g a z i n e 2 0 1 5 to Patriot Park, adjacent to the city's Senior Center. In 2012, Patriot Park was renovated to make it more useable for the surrounding West Homewood community. During the renovation, a playground, two pavilions, bathroom facilities, and a concrete walking/jogging path were added along with new landscaping features. What was once a relatively un-useable fi eld of tall grass has become a community gathering spot that hosts birthday parties, commu- nity events (such as the city's Easter Egg Hunt), and play groups. With the addition of the Homewood community center and pool, the planned expansion of the Lakeshore Greenway, new sidewalks, and West Homewood renovations, Homewood is leading the region and the state in making green spaces an integral part of the fabric of the community.
